Cristina Matos-Albers was born and raised in Valencia, Venezuela. In 1999, she moves to New Mexico and represents Venezuela at the United World Colleges -a global educational movement that fosters international understanding and peace. Cristina moves to Delaware, Ohio in 2001 and enrolls at Ohio Wesleyan University . There, she studies journalism, latin-american literature and photography. In several occassions, she participates as photo editor for the school newspaper, The Transcript. In the Summer of 2003, Cristina embarks on a nine-week long road trip across the American Southwest with the sole purpose to photograph it. Art Studies In The American Southwest (ASITAW) was organized by her photography teacher Justin Kronewetter, and it allowed Cristina to perceive photography as more than a medium of expression, it became her excuse to explore the world around her. Cristina receives her B.A. and graduates Cum Laude in 2004. That same year, she moves to New York City and interns at ABC News as part of the production team of PrimeTime Live and 20/20. She then moved to Boston and studied filmmaking at Boston University. She has photographed across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Venezuela. She is currently in Venezuela, teaching photography at Roberto Mata 's School of Photography. Cristina Matos-Albers nace en Valencia, Venezuela. En 1999, es becada por el United World College en Nuevo México, Estados Unidos, para representar a Venezuela en un programa global de educación que fomenta la paz y el entendimiento entre naciones.  Dos años más tarde, Cristina empieza sus estudios en Ohio Wesleyan University, dónde se especializa en periodismo, literatura latinoamericana y fotografía. En varias ocasiones, es nombrada foto-editora del periódico de la universidad, The Transcript. En el verano del 2003, su profesor de fotografía Justin Kronewetter organiza ASITAW, un viaje fotográfico a través del sureste americano. Ella se embarca en el viaje de nueve semanas y abre su ojo fotográfico. Cristina entonces comienza a percibir la fotografía más que como un medio de expresión, en una excusa para explorar el mundo a su alrededor.  Desde entonces su trabajo la ha llevado a fotografiar a lo largo de los Estados Unidos, Canadá, México y Venezuela. Cristina recibe su título de Licenciada y se gradúa Cum Laude en el 2004. Ese mismo año se muda a la Ciudad de Nueva York y trabaja con la cadena de televisión ABC en la producción de los programas PrimeTime Live y 20/20 (ambos transmitidos en Latinoamérica por A&E Mundo). Luego en Boston, estudia cinematografía en Boston University Center of Digital Imaging Arts. En la actualidad vive en Venezuela, enseñando fotografía en el taller de Roberto Mata
